SHARP NGO celebrates World School Milk Day 2007 on National level for the First Time in India in Vadodara.

Vadodara city (Gujarat) hosted the World School Milk Day 2007 organised by SHARP NGO (School Health Annual Report Programme). The programme was inaugurated by His Holy Highness Lalji Maharaj Shree Nrigendraprasadji Maharaj, Shree Swaminarayan Sect. on 26th Sept’2007 (Wednesday) at Baroda High School, Vadodara. Mr. Ashok Bhatt, Health Minister of Govt. of Gujarat also sent his wishes and support to School Milk Programme started by SHARP NGO in Gujarat.
To celebrate World School Milk Day, SHARP organized an Inter School Painting Competition and invited best entries from 80 schools of Baroda on to topic “Milky Way to stronger nation”. The best three entries were given away prizes by the Chief Guest. The students were made aware of the benefits of milk through small skit staged by artists of All India Shree LaxminarayanDev Yuvak Mandal, of Shree Swaminarayan Sect Vadtal to promote milk drinking amongst students.
This day also marks the launching of State wide School Milk Clubs in various schools of Gujarat. These clubs have been the result of pilot study supported by AMUL and done by SHARP in selected schools in Anand with AMUL.
Around 300 students from various schools attended the event. All the students were served Milk in Tetrapaks after the event.

GLOBAL DAIRY INNOVATION AWARDS 2008:

SHARP SCHOOL MILK PROJECT BECOMES RUNNERS UP IN THE SCHOOL MILK INITIATIVE CATEGORY. A PRIDE MOMENT FOR INDIAN SCHOOL MILK INITIATIVE.
An international panel of experts gathered together in London to judge the dairy Photos of the Judges of the 2nd Global Dairy innovation awardsinnovation awards 2008. The second dairy innovation awards attracted 90 entries from 23 countries in nine different classes.

SHARP  School Milk Program, Gujarat has stood Runners up  in the  School Milk Initiative Category.

The results of the dairy innovation awards 2008 were announced at a special gala dinner during the 2nd Global Dairy Congress, held in Athens from 11 to 13 March 2008

2008 DAIRY INNOVATION AWARDS – WINNERS ANNOUNCED

EMBARGO 13 MARCH 2008

Innovation in the global dairy sector was celebrated last night in Athens, Greece, with the presentation of the dairy innovation awards 2008. With categories for dairy drinks, desserts, cheese and children’s products, along with categories for health, packaging, school milk and marketing initiatives, the awards attracted more than 90 entries from 21 countries. The awards were organised by Zenith International Publishing through its dairy innovation magazine. 

The Best School Milk Initiative came from the Danish Dairy Board with a 160 page handbook, produced in cooperation with school leaders, teachers, psychologists and parents’organisations and distributed to parents through schools. Close behind were Indian NGOSharp that launched school milk clubs to promote milk as a fun drink among school children and the Dairy Farmers of Britain  initiative to increase the sales of school milk in South Wales schools.

“Our second awards attracted a wide range of entries from around the world,” said dairy innovation Editor Geoff Platt. “These entries came from dairy companies and organizations both large and small – but all illustrated the high level of innovation, the high quality of the work and the diversity of activity that is going on in this exciting industry. 

“These awards also recognise the dedication and enthusiasm of people working in this industry – some working in very difficult and challenging circumstances.”
