Parichay Project for Adolescent school girls

With the Support of Johnson and Johnson ltd, SHARP NGO has been  conducting  “PARICHAY” project in the govt, govt aided and corporation schools where children from poor or not so affluent families come to study since the year 2004. Around 3000 schools across several states of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana (NCR), Karnataka have been covered under the project so far.Only Girls students from class 6th to 10th were  trained by SHARP educators in maintaining personal hygiene and information regarding puberty and adolescence issues like menstruation etc. Prior to the year 2004, SHARP NGO educators were involved in a similar project for adolescent girls of metros only.
 

Lady Educators of SHARP went to the Schools throughout the city to spread the message of Good menstrual health and hygiene by conducting various sessions in these schools. The School Teachers were also trained as educator and classroom sessions were conducted. All the Girls covered under the programme were given a small text booklet on the issue. The material has been prepared in consultation with FOGSI ( Fed of Obst & Gynae Society of India ) The students really liked the programme and were appreciated very much by the principals and teachers.
